He is now a hot favourite to win the competition, which concludes on Thursday (May 5), after wowing with a series of fusion dishes inspired by his family and his travels.

“I feel so lucky to have made it onto MasterChef UK series 18, let alone get through to the final four”, said the 30-year-old of his success on this year’s show, which started off with 45 contestants.

“What an achievement, progressing through the competition by showcasing my classic French repertoire, my twists on classic dishes and my Indian adaptations.

“Every amateur chef dreams of cooking their food on MasterChef. It’s been an experience like no other and one I’ll remember forever”, he added.

Mr Scott, who now lives in East Yorkshire, is a Marine pilot by trade, who has piloted ships on the Humber for the last five years.

He has been a fan of MasterChef for several years, before taking the plunge and applying for this year’s show, which is now in its 17th series.

Last night saw the last five chefs create a dish inspired by a public figure, or a piece of art, film, song, TV series or book.

Tonight, they will face a chefs’ table test, with superstar chef Gordon Ramsey.

If Eddie is successful, he will go onto the final episode on Thursday (May 5), with a chance to be crowned the winner of MasterChef 2022.

Speaking about his MasterChef experience, Mr Scott said: “I’ve met some truly wonderful people along the way, who I will stay friends with.

“I have experienced wonderful comments from John and Gregg and had the most incredible time cooking the food I love in the stress and heat of the MasterChef kitchen”.
