The 6th annual ‘National Samosa Week’ is to take place next week, a popular, fun and tasty initiative which began right here in Leicester!
Taking place between April 10 and 16, the annual event is designed to encourage everyone to try, taste and enjoy the tasty triangular snack, we all know and love.
Launched by the Leicester Curry Awards back in 2018, ‘National Samosa Week’ is an opportunity for people to celebrate the savoury delight that is loved by millions the world over, whilst raising vital funds for charity.
Throughout next week, people are encouraged to get involved in National Samosa Week by making their own samosas at home, taking ‘Samosa Selfies’ and tagging @nationalsamosaweek on social media.
Anyone who wants to sell their creations is invited to do so in support of COPS Charity, which supports the families of Police Officers and staff who have lost their lives on duty.
Donations to the cause are also encouraged, and will be gratefully received via: https://ukcops.org/make-a-donation/
Another fun way to get involved with this year’s ‘National Samosa Week’, is to hold a samosa eating competition with family and friends.
Ady Dayman, of BBC Radio Leicester, is still the reigning ‘Samosa King’ after managing to eat 15 in ten minutes back in 2018.
Last year, many challenged Ady for the title, at an event held at Chutney Ivy restaurant.
However, his closest rival managed to eat just six samosas.
If you think you can do better, why not take up the challenge? Don’t forget to film it, and tag @nationalsamosaweek on social media!
