Chance to become Samosa King or Queen in Leicester!

Foodies with a competitive streak have the chance to be crowned Leicester’s ‘Samosa King or Queen,’ during an event designed to celebrate this tasty triangular snack.

The 7th annual ‘National Samosa Week’ began yesterday (Monday, April 8) and will conclude with a samosa eating competition taking place at Geoffery’s restaurant this weekend.

People are encouraged to attend the venue on Belgrave Road, this Saturday and Sunday (April 13 and 14) in order to try and beat the record set by Ady Dayman in 2018.

The Radio Leicester presenter managed to woof down a total of 15 samosas in ten minutes, making him the current ‘Samosa King’.

National Samosa Week was set up in 2018 by Pukaar Group – a media and events company based in Leicester.

Founder Romail Gulzar also runs the Leicestershire Curry Awards.

“I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love a samosa and that deserves celebrating!” he said.

“If you have the stomach to take on our samosa eating challenge, pop down to Geoffery’s. The doors will be open wide and the samosas free for all who wish to take part in this tasty trial!

“You can also join in by buying (or making) your own samosas and doing your own challenge at home. Don’t forget to film it, and tag @nationalsamosaweek on social media!” he added.

Potential Samosa Kings/Queens should pop into Geoffery’s between 2 and 4pm on either Saturday or Sunday.
