Celebrate your favourite Indian eateries by nominating them for a Leicestershire Curry Award!

It’s almost time to nominate your favourite Indian restaurants and takeaways, as preparations get underway for this year’s glittering Leicestershire Curry Awards.

Nominations for the 7th annual event open tomorrow (Wednesday, May 1), with Leicestershire residents encouraged to put forward the names of their favourite Indian eateries.

The Leicestershire Curry Awards, which take place on September 23, are a celebration of the county’s spicy culinary scene.

Nominations will open in eight different categories including ‘Best Takeaway’, ‘Best Catering,’ ‘Best Street Food’ and ‘Best Pub Restaurant’.

People can also their favourite ‘Best Fine Dining Restaurant,’ ‘Best Vegetarian Restaurant’ and ‘Best New Restaurant’ (one which has been trading for less than three years.)

The final award is the coveted ‘Restaurant of the Year,’ which was won last year by Kayal. Silchar Indian Dining were crowned as the county’s most delectable choice.

“In Leicestershire, we are spoilt for choice when it comes to great Indian restaurants and takeaways and I’m looking forward to seeing which ones make it through to this year’s glittering grand final!” said Romail Gulzar, founder of the Leicestershire Curry Awards, which were established in 2017.

“The number of restaurants taking part in these awards continues to grow every year, as does the excitement and anticipation!”

The Leicestershire Curry Awards, which take place at Leicester’s Athena, are described as a ‘highlight of the city’s events calendar.’
