Toys R Us – the iconic toy shop chain which collapsed in 2018, will be reopening a branch in Leicester next weekend.
The store will be based within the new WHSmith shop in Fosse Park Avenue, which also opens its doors for the first time at 8.30am on Saturday, May 25.
There will be free toy goody bags for the first 100 children visiting the store, each containing about £20 worth of treats.
In a statement, Toys R Us said: “The new Toys R Us shop-in-shop will feature a key range of products and activities from top toy brands including Barbie, Bluey, Hot Wheels, LEGO, Marvel, Paw Patrol, Peppa Pig, Squishmallows, Star Wars and more.
“Children will be able to access the latest products and play hands-on with their favourite toys at the demonstration tables in store. A life-size Geoffrey the Giraffe sculpture, great for photo opportunities, will also feature in the new Toys R Us shop-in-shop.”
The Toys R Us at Fosse Park is one of 30 opening within branches of WHSmith around the UK, with the first ones having opened in 2023. The retail giant collapsed in 2018, shutting all 100 of its UK stores after administrators failed to find a buyer.
