Leicester 10K set to ignite city streets this Sunday

Hundreds of runners are getting ready to lace up their running shoes as the highly anticipated Leicester 10K returns this weekend.

Organised by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All, the UK’s largest not-for-profit events company and promising a day of athleticism, community spirit and fundraising for so many worthy causes both local and national, thousands of participants of all abilities and ages are expected to take part, this Sunday (March 2).

With a route that weaves through some of Leicester’s most iconic landmarks and scenic routes, taking in the Museum & Art Gallery alongside the Leicester Cathedral and the beautiful greenery of Victoria Park, the event will start at 9:00am, with wheelchair participants going earlier at 08:50am.

Starting and finishing at Jubilee Square, participants can expect enthusiastic support and a fantastic atmosphere from the electric crowd, making every runner feel celebrated along the course – from the beginning, right to the very end.

Not just a route with something for everyone to appreciate, runners embarking upon the challenge will be greeted with a goody bag of rewards, including post-run treats and a hard-earned bespoke medal for them to remember the day.

Providing a fundraising vehicle for charities is the primary objective of every Run For All event, ensuring that the money being raised stays local and supports the causes that needs them most.

With charity at its core, the event is expected to raise tens of thousands of pounds for a number of local and national charities. Participants have been encouraged to fundraise for a charity if their choice, or for one of the event’s partner charities; Emmaus, George Eliot Hospital Charity, the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Leicester Tigers Foundation, LAMP and Leicester City in the community.

Set to be more than a just a running event, this year’s Leicester 10K will highlight the incredible communities in and around the city, from music groups, running clubs, volunteers, schools and universities; all corners of the city have shown their support.

Tristan Batley-Kyle, Operations Director at Run For All commented, “We’re looking forward to welcoming participants and spectators to the event on Sunday.

A firm favourite in the city’s fundraising and sporting calendar, we know how well loved and appreciated the 10K is and we’re thrilled to bring it back for another year.

Whether participants are running for a charity close to their heart or for their own personal challenge, we hope everyone taking part has a memorable and enjoyable event day experience with Run For All.”
