For the Love of Jazz Festival Returns to Leicester with Star-Studded Lineup

A free jazz extravaganza is set to take over Leicester next month, bringing a stellar lineup of award-winning artists to the city.

For the Love of Jazz Festival returns for its fourth year on August 16, transforming Jubilee Square and Leicester Cathedral into vibrant hubs of live music and celebration.

Headlining the evening at Leicester Cathedral is acclaimed keyboardist Joe Armon-Jones, who will perform from 7:30pm. Hailing from London, Joe is a key member of Ezra Collective, winners of both the Mercury Prize and Brit Award for Group of the Year 2025.

In Jubilee Square, festival-goers will be treated to a main stage performance by the Tony Kofi Quartet, hosted by Jazz FM’s Tony Minvielle. An award-winning jazz multi-instrumentalist, Tony Kofi will lead a powerhouse ensemble of world-class musicians, known for their dynamic and innovative sound.

Also joining the lineup is Byron Wallen, an internationally acclaimed composer and trumpet soloist. Renowned for his compelling compositions, Byron has created soundscapes for Universal Pictures, Game of Thrones, and has been commissioned by the BBC, Science Museum, and FIFA to compose original scores.

Adding to the energy of the day is Romarna Campbell, an Olivier Award-winning composer and drummer. With an impressive international career, Romarna has performed with Fever Ray, Benjamin Clementine, and Courtney Pine. Her work is grounded in artistic integrity and dedicated to inspiring the next generation—particularly those from underrepresented communities.

Organised by Cosmopolitan Arts and supported by Arts Council England, For the Love of Jazz Festival 2025 promises a day of unforgettable music and celebration.
