There were glitter balls, disco beats, and nonstop dancing as residents and team members at Lonsdale Mews care home in Quorn boogied their way through a spectacular six-hour danceathon – all for a cause close to their hearts.
The lively event, held at Care UK’s Lonsdale Mews on Farley Way, raised an impressive £2,077 for Parkinson’s UK, helping the charity continue its vital work supporting people living with Parkinson’s and their families. From funding pioneering research to offering life-changing support services, every penny raised will make a difference.

Decked out in vibrant disco outfits, residents, relatives, and staff hit the dance floor with energy and enthusiasm. Among them was resident Pauline Bellerby, who said: “It was a pleasure to take part in such a good cause. I really enjoyed getting involved and connecting with others affected by the condition.”
The home’s manager, Toby Sturgess, shared his pride in the community’s efforts: “We never shy away from a challenge – especially when it supports something so meaningful. Dancing is not only great fun, but it’s also brilliant for our residents’ physical and emotional wellbeing. It brings everyone together in the most joyful way.”
“Raising money for Parkinson’s UK means so much to us all, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who danced, donated, or cheered us on. We’re already planning our next fundraising adventure – watch this space!”
