Crews from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service were first dealing with an overturned HGV in the area. Shortly after that incident was made safe, they were called to a second at Watermead Country Park, just off the A607.

The service said they were alerted to the scene shortly before 17:10 GMT on 17 March. Upon arrival, they found that the driver of the car had already exited the vehicle and was uninjured.

Fire crews, along with police officers at the scene, provided the motorist with safety advice following the incident.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: “When driving and leaving a major road, ensure you have slowed down sufficiently to take the corner on to the minor road safely.”

The car was left with its owner, with recovery services arranged to remove it from the water shortly after 17:30.

While the exact causes of the two incidents remain unclear, emergency responders urged motorists to take extra care on the roads. They reminded drivers to stick to speed limits, avoid distractions and approach junctions cautiously to help ensure everyone’s safety.
