Police have cordoned off an area between Krefeld Way and Beaumont Way while forensic examinations are carried out and officers work to identify potential witnesses.

A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Detective Inspector Kevin Hames, from the East Midlands Murder Investigation Team, said officers are in the early stages of their enquiries.

“The victim’s family have been identified and are being supported by specialist officers through this extremely difficult time,” he said.

“We would urge anyone who was in this area during the evening and may have witnessed what happened or have any information about the incident to get in touch.

“We know it’s not always easy to report what you may have seen or heard but it’s vitally important we speak to as many people as possible.

“A CCTV trawl and house-to-house enquiries in the area are underway.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or via the Leicestershire Police website, quoting incident 572 of 6 April.
