A NEW cafe is opening in Wigston in memory of a teenager, who died when he came off his motorcycle back in 2009.
Connor Pullen died at the age of 17 when he came off his motorcycle on April 24, 2009.
The Narborough teenager had been bought the off-road bike as a present a year earlier, and had not driven it on the road before when the incident occurred..
How his uncle Pete has opened ‘Connor’s Cafe’ as a way to keep his memory alive.
It is hoped that the cafe will open to the public next Monday (February 21), and Connor’s picture will take pride of place at the venue, on Spring Lane, Wigston.
“He’d be so chuffed to see his name up there as he never shied away from the limelight!” Connor’s mum Annabelle told the Leicester Times.
“Everybody remembered him for his big mischievous grin and his rosy cheeks,” she added.
“He was 6 foot 5 and loud as anything.”
In an online tribute, Annabelle said that her son had “lived life on the edge” and was “always full of surprises”.
“That was just him – he would get a crazy idea in his head and would do it regardless of the consequences,” she said.
“We called him ‘Crazy Con’ because he was absolutely outrageous. You never knew what he would do next.”
Connor’s uncle Pete will be assisted at the cafe by his sister Olivia, 16, who was just four when her brother died.
She is currently studying ‘Bakery and Patisserie’ at college.
Over the past few months, Pete has worked hard to renovate the site in memory of his nephew, which used to be the ‘El Cafe eatery.
“He left his job at Severn Trent and has been wanting to do this for a few years now,” revealed Annabelle.
“He said if I don’t do it now, I never will, and it’s definitely been a labour of love.
“When we open to the public, it’ll definitely be a very special and emotional day,” she added.
“And by naming the cafe after Connor, he can be a part of it as well.”
