Appeals for information after seven dead puppies discovered

The RSPCA is appealing for information following the tragic discovery of seven dead puppies that were found in a bucket which had been buried in a shallow grave at an allotments in Leicester.

The bodies were found by a member of the public at the allotments in Grovebury Walk last Thursday, 24 April at around 4pm. The bodies were inside a white plastic bucket in a shallow grave which had been disturbed most likely by wildlife.

They were likely very young, -suspected to be just newborns – but the breed of the dogs is unknown as is the cause of death.

RSPCA Inspector Beckie Harlock attended the location and  is appealing for information from the public and urges anyone who may have seen anything around the area to contact her via their inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018.

She said: “This was an incredibly distressing discovery for the member of the public who found these poor, dead puppies . There are no injuries on the puppies or obvious cause of death but the circumstances in which they were found is suspicious.

“We’re urging anyone who may have seen something suspicious to please get in touch with us as we’re keen to find out what happened to these young dogs. We are also concerned for the well-being of the mother of these pups too and are keen to find her.”

Anyone with information is urged to call Inspector Harlock on 0300 123 8018.
