Coalville residents invited to have their say on new development plans

A developer is inviting residents in and around Bardon Hill, Coalville, to have their say on proposals for a new residential development this month.

Taylor Wimpey is preparing a reserved matters planning application for 357 new homes on land at Swinfen Vale. There will be a mix of one to four-bedroom properties, and 8% of the total, equating to 27 homes, will be allocated as affordable housing.

The development, which will be known as Charnwood Chase if approved, will also include 1.6 acres of public open space.

The site is part of the South East Coalville Sustainable Urban Extension (SUE), a development of approximately 2,700 homes which received outline planning permission in September 2016.

A two-week public consultation will launch on 23rd January. People will be able to view the plans and ask questions of the project team during an information session on that date, from 3.30pm until 7pm at Ellistown Scout Group, 33 Kendal Road, Ellistown, Coalville LE67 1EF.

The plans will also be uploaded to www.taylorwimpey.co.uk/charnwood-chase. People will have until midnight on Thursday 6th February to provide their feedback ahead of the submission of a reserved matters planning application to North West Leicestershire District Council in February.

Helen Chard, Land Director for Taylor Wimpey North Midlands, said: “Gathering the views of the local community is a vital stage in the development process and we are keen to hear what residents living near the site think of our current proposals. We look forward to hearing people’s views.”

The public consultation on Taylor Wimpey’s proposals for Swinfen Vale, Bardon Hill, Coalville, will run from 23rd January until midnight on 6th February 2025. People can visit www.taylorwimpey.co.uk/charnwood-chase during that time to view the plans.
