COMEDY NIGHT TO RAISE FUNDS FOR ANGEL LYNN

A NIGHT of stand up comedy has been planned to raise funds for a girl who was left hospitalised when she fell from a van on the A6, after being kidnapped by her boyfriend.

The fundraising event is set to take place at Loughborough’s ROFL Comedy Club to raise money for 21-year-old Angel Lynn.

Angel was left with catastrophic injuries following the fall on September 17, 2020, which saw her bundled in a van against her will by Chay Bowskill, just moments before.

A Crowdfunding page set up in Angel’s name, has gone on the raise over £60,000, with its organiser revealing that she now needs round the clock care.

“She can no longer walk, talk or eat by herself,” said her cousin Fahren Davis, writing online.

“What we would like to do is raise as much money as possible to aid Angels recovery with anything she needs.

“In order for Angel to return home she will need a lot of equipment to help her rehabilitation,” she added.

“Please help to get Angel home by raising as much money possible for Angel to give her the help she deserves.”

It is hoped that the Loughborough comedy night will raise £1,000 to help with Angel’s support, whilst also helping her family to forget the reality and the horror of the situation.

“We approached the family about it and they were really encouraged and grateful,” said comedian Carl Jones, who is set to host the event on February 24.

“What’s happened is absolutely horrendous, so so tragic, and we just wanted to step in and do what we can to help.

“On a personal level I just want to it to be a fun evening for the family to be able to forget the horror of what’s happened and forget about their troubles for a few hours,” he added.

“The beauty of live comedy is that you can step through those doors and just forget about your troubles for a few hours.

“We want people to have a laugh and a good time, but I also want to use my platform as host to get people to think about violence against women, which is a growing epidemic.

“It’s about striking the right balance, and we just hope people come along and show their support.”

So far around 25 out of 100 tickets have been sold ahead of the event.

Its host, Carl, has featured on BBC Radio 4 Extra and has written for BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz, and comedians who are set to perform, include Harriet Dyer, as seen on The Russell Howard Hour and Hannah Silvester, winner of the Breakthrough Act category in Midlands Comedy Awards in 2014.

Further acts for the fundraiser will be announced closer to the day.
