Concern following a series of burglaries at religious establishments in East Leicester

An investigation is underway following a string of concerning burglaries in East Leicester at places of worship over recent weeks.

An investigation is underway following the incidents, which have taken place at several different places of worship of varying faiths. Several items were stolen from churches, mosques and a temple in the East Leicester area between Sunday, January 21 and Monday, February 26.

“This is of course a concerning series of incidents. We would like to reassure those affected and the wider community that Leicestershire Police are thoroughly investigating each of these incidents,” said a spokesman for the force.

“We are working with the relevant parties to offer support along with crime prevention advice.”

Although the force is not naming which premises were hit, it has revealed when and where the incidents happened:

January 21 in Edgehill Road

January 23 in Kerrysdale Avenue

February 1 in Gipsy Lane

February 9 in Essex Road

February 18 in Edgehill Road

February 20 in Linden Street
