Thousands of festive fun seekers are set to take to the ice, as Leicester prepares to open its real ice rink in Jubilee Square.
Construction of the rink began at Jubilee Square last week, and it’s now just 10 days until the real ice rink opens in Leicester city centre for the Christmas season.

Over 41,000 skaters visited the city’s popular festive attraction last year and this Christmas, the 720 square metre real ice rink will feature an added enhancement. over 20,000 LED lights will be installed beneath the ice to add to the magical, festive experience as people enjoy their skating.
Tickets are on sale to skate from 5 December to 5 January 2025. Skaters are advised to book early to secure their preferred sessions. This year there will be meet and greet sessions on Sundays with favourite Disney and Marvel characters and on selected dates skaters can enjoy a family friendly Drag on Ice experience, student night and SEN sessions when there will be no flashing lights or loud music. The ice rink is fully accessible for wheelchair users.
From 7 December, an exciting new games arcade will be available including an air hockey table, basketball, boxing, ultimate football and other fun activities.
Assistant City Mayor, Councillor Vi Dempster, said: “It’s great to have the ice rink back in Leicester. Sitting next to the big wheel on Jubilee Square, it’s a real focal point of our celebrations, and along with the new festive market means there’s lots to enjoy in the city centre this Christmas.”
