A man involved in a two-car collision in Bardon earlier this month has been left in a critical condition in hospital, police have confirmed.

At the time of the collision, the passenger in the BMW was reported to have suffered only a minor arm injury which did not require medical treatment. However, Leicestershire Police have since confirmed he has been admitted to hospital and is now in a critical condition.

The drivers of both vehicles were not injured.

A 47-year-old man, who was driving the Ford Edge, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving. He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Detective Sergeant Kasie McMahon, from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said officers are continuing to piece together the circumstances leading up to the crash.

She said: “From enquiries carried out at the time of the collision, we understand the Ford was travelling towards Beveridge Lane and the BMW was travelling in the opposite direction.

“We know the incident was a few weeks ago, but we would urge anyone who was driving along Regs Way that afternoon to get in touch if they saw either vehicle or witnessed the collision.

“We would also urge people to check their dashcam footage for anything that may assist us. Any information you can provide could help with our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or via the Leicestershire Police website, quoting crime number 26*157308.
