Cyclist in Critical Condition Following Oadby Collision

A cyclist has been left in a critical condition following a crash in Oadby.

The incident happened at around 6.50pm yesterday morning (Wednesday, May 24) on the Gartree Road and Stoughton Road roundabout and involved a bicycle and a grey Bentley Bentayga.

The cyclist, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital by air ambulance and is currently in a critical but stable condition.

The driver of the car, a man in his 80s, was not injured.

It is believed the cyclist was travelling from the direction of Stoughton Road and the car was travelling county bound along Gartree Road when the collision occurred on the roundabout.

Officers from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are carrying out enquires to establish the full circumstances of the incident and are asking for any information which could assist.

Detective Sergeant Lisa Wood said: “If anyone was in the area yesterday evening and saw the collision, was driving in the area and has dash cam footage or thinks they saw the car or the bike prior to the collision – please contact police.”
