Over £8,000 has been raised towards the funeral of a teenage girl, who was killed after being hit by a car in Braunstone last week.

Tehleigher Bunting, 14, was killed when a car hit her last Wednesday (October 26), at the junction of Braunstone Lane and Mortimer Way.

She was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident, causing an outpouring of grief in the Leicester community.

Another 14-year-old girl suffered non life-threatening or life-changing injuries as a result of the collision, which happened just after 11am.

£8,248 has been raised towards the cost of Tehleigher’s funeral, thanks to an online fundraising campaign set up by her step father Shane Patterson.

In a tribute, he labelled her a “little angel,” who “enjoyed every second of life.”

“Being an amazing sister and daughter was everything to her. Tehleigher was the salt of the earth and her life was taken way too soon,” he added.

“Words cannot describe the deep sadness the family are going through at this time. Anything you can do to help contribute towards giving this girl the best send off will be widely appreciated by the family and community.”

Aaron Carter, 38, of Aikman Avenue in Leicester, has been charged with one count of causing death by dangerous driving in relation to Tehleigher’s death.

He appeared at Leicester Magistrates’ Court last Friday (October 28), where he did not enter a plea.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Leicester Crown Court on December 5.
