Speaking about the support from fans, Mr McNulty’s sister and mother have described how it has wrapped a “big warm blue and white arm around them in their hour of need.”
“Liam was a gentle and generous soul who adored Leicester City and gave back to the community through charity work and donations,” said his sister Sharmila McNulty.
“He followed Leicester City his whole life. He saw their lowest lows and greatest achievements. Despite his condition he would travel to every away match (even abroad), it really was what kept him going.
“We wanted his funeral to be a blue and white celebration of his life, the person he was and what he stood for – a joyous occasion he’d be proud of,” she added.
As well as his dedication to attending games, Mr McNulty was also a popular and respected voice on the Foxes fan forum, sharing his wealth of knowledge of Leicester City to fans across the globe.
He touched fans with the bravery of his final Tweet, which was posted just a few hours before he died.
It read: “Not great news but I’ve had a decent life – just hope it’s a peaceful end now.”
“He had a positive outlook and a real ‘go get it’ attitude to life, never letting his health issues get in the way of his passions for football and Leicester,” said one fan, responding to news of Liam’s passing online.
