Today (Monday 30 March), a space-themed event is planned at the Haymarket Shopping Centre, followed by the launch of the “Planet Parade”. The parade will begin at Leicester Cathedral and finish at the Haymarket.

The Planet Parade installation will remain in place until the end of May, with large-scale models of planets displayed across the city centre. The Sun will be located at the National Space Centre. A related digital trail will also be available.

At the Jewry Wall Museum, Easter Mosaic sessions will run on selected days from 30 March. These are paid sessions and require advance booking.

Leicester Guildhall will host a K-pop themed event on 2 April, including craft activities and music. Tickets are required.

Libraries across Leicester are expected to run a range of activities during the holiday period, including craft sessions and storytelling. Some sessions are free, while others require booking.

Highfields Library will host a series of poetry workshops for children aged 8 to 12, beginning on 30 March and concluding with a performance in April.

Free craft sessions are also planned at Leicester Cathedral on selected dates. Meanwhile, Abbey Pumping Station will hold an Easter Railway Day on 7 April, with free entry and a small charge for train rides.

Further events are due to take place at local libraries, community venues and family centres, including craft workshops and informal play sessions.

The programme is expected to conclude on 11 April with activities across the city’s Cultural Quarter. Venues including LCB Depot, Curve Theatre and Leicester Print Workshop are due to host sessions.

Assistant city mayor Elaine Pantling said the activities are intended to provide options for families during the school holidays.

Information about the events is available via the city council. A discounted family bus ticket will also be available during the holiday period.
