An investigation has begun into what caused a major fire to break out at a former Leicester nightclub.
The fire, which ravaged the city’s former Krystals nightclub in Gravel Street, broke out at around 5.15am yesterday morning (October 4).
Firefighters spent all day tackling the blaze, which caused parts of the building to collapse yesterday afternoon.
They were in attendance throughout last night, and are continuing to work on Church Gate this morning, to ensure that the area is made safe.
The city council are expected to take control of the site to carry out a controlled demolition of the building later today.
Meanwhile, Crime Scene Investigators and Fire Investigators are due to attend the scene to begin their investigation into the cause of the fire.
St Margaret’s Bus Station and Church Gate remain closed while crews continue their work.
Three appliances and a high reach vehicle are currently at the scene.
