Leicester 10K offers New Year incentive to get the city moving

Leicester’s beloved Leicester 10K is back for 2026 and event organisers are urging city residents to sign up now – not just for a charity run, but as an energising New Year incentive to get active and embrace fitness goals.

Set for Sunday 1 March, the popular charity road race starts and finishes at Jubilee Square before weaving through iconic parts of the city, including Victoria Park, the University of Leicester and historic landmarks such as the Leicester Museum & Art Gallery and Leicester Cathedral.

Organised by Run For All, the event draws participants of all abilities – from seasoned runners to first-time fundraisers and walkers alike. The 10K presents a motivating challenge for anyone looking to turn a New Year resolution into reality, with organisers and charities alike highlighting the physical and mental benefits of training in the weeks leading up to the race.

Tristan Batley-Kyle, Operations Director at Run For All, said: “Leicester is a perfect city location to stage our first event of 2026, and whatever your reason for taking part, whether it’s a personal challenge, fundraising for charity, or just for fun, we welcome all participants to get involved.”

The event is deeply rooted in community and fundraising, with participants encouraged to support official partner charities or their own chosen causes. Runners, walkers and fundraisers can sign up online now, with a registration fee of around £32 and entries already filling up.

Public health advocates say having a clear goal like the Leicester 10K early in the year can help turn vague exercise plans into consistent habits, boosting wellbeing through structured training and shared experience. With a friendly atmosphere, scenic route and good cause at its heart, the event aims to inspire Leicester residents to get moving this New Year.
