Thousands of runners will be heading to the city this weekend, to take part in the annual Leicester 10K, for a range of good causes.
The event will start and finish at Jubilee Square, with a route leading from the city centre to Victoria Park, through the University of Leicester and back towards the city centre via landmarks including New Walk and Leicester Cathedral.
To ensure the safety of runners and spectators, there will be a series of rolling road closures and restrictions in place while the race is underway.
Road closures will begin at 5am around Jubilee Square with rest of the closures on route coming into effect from 8.30am until around 11.30am, when all the runners have passed.
Roads affected will include St Georges Way, Waterloo Way, London Road, Belvoir Street, Bishop Street, De Montfort Street, Granby Street, Granville Road, Grey Friars, Horsefair Street, Hotel Street, Market Place, Market Place South, Mayor’s Walk, New Street, Peacock Lane, Regent Road, St Martins, University Road, Victoria Park Road and Welford Road.
One lane of London Road, Welford Road and Victoria Park Road will be affected.
The race is being organised by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All.

“Unfortunately, an event of this scale does mean some road closures are necessary to ensure the safety of all involved.
“We apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused and will lift the closures as soon as possible.”
Runners can choose to run for a charity close to their heart or get involved with one of the event’s official partner charities – the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Leicester Tigers Foundation, LAMP (Leicestershire Action for Mental Health Project) and Leicester City in the Community.
The run starts at 9am, with the first finishers expected to arrive at 9.30.
