A Leicester hair salon is celebrating after two of its stylists were named as finalists at this year’s British Hairdressing Awards.
Joanne Roe and Joanna Bishop, who work at KH Hair’s Bowling Green Street salon, have been shortlisted for the Eastern Hairdresser of the Year title. Widely regarded as the highlight of the hairdressing calendar, the annual awards, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional, celebrate the outstanding creative and technical skills of stylists from across the United Kingdom.

Joanne and Joanna impressed the judges by demonstrating exceptional creativity, technical skill and artistic flair with their collection. They will now go head-to-head with some of the most talented names in the industry, with the winners set to be revealed at a glittering awards ceremony at the iconic JW Marriott Grosvenor House, London on Monday 24th November.
The British Hairdressing Awards remains one of the most respected and celebrated events in the global hairdressing calendar. From salon stylists to creative visionaries, the awards shine a spotlight on those who are shaping the future of the industry. The first round of judging took place on Monday 21st July at Epsom Downs Racecourse, where an expert panel of industry icons came together to review hundreds of collections across 18 regional and specialist categories.
With such an incredible standard of entries, competition was fierce and Joanne says they’re both absolutely delighted to be chosen as finalists. “It’s been a tremendous effort balancing work, life, and family, but our hard work and dedication has paid off. We’re thrilled to be doing it together and can’t wait to celebrate in November with the best of the industry.”
Joanna says she was overwhelmed when she received the news. “To be a finalist in the British Hairdressing Awards alongside my work bestie, who’s been by my side for most of my life, is truly a dream come true! This moment is a highlight of my career and I’m so thankful to be sharing it with my partner in crime. Huge congratulations to all the other finalists.
