Tens of thousands of people braved the rain to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Diwali Day in Belgrave, Leicester.
Despite a slow start to the event and the weather causing minor delays the music, parades, dancing, procession of lights and ancient giants, amongst many other delights, wowed the crowds and entertained everyone before the grand firework display.
Cossington Park hosted a range of food and drink stalls with a brand new stage of light illuminated with a spectacular display of lasers lighting up the park.
Those who visited the park after the forework display were treated to a DJ set created and performed by Mercury Music Prize Winner Talvin Singh, continuing the festival atmosphere.
The theme of light continued on the park with a fire garden display on the park into the evening.
Bollywood style dancing kept the people in awe on the main stage until 8:30 with a multitude of local talent each taking their moment to shine to the roar of the appreciative crowd.
If you didn’t get chance to ride the popular Wheel of Light you can always wait until it re-opens at Jubilee Square on November 17.
