A suspect has been charged with the murder of a much-loved woman who was killed at home in Whetstone.
Shannon Grant, 27, has appeared at Leicester Magistrates Court to face the allegation he killed 40-year-old Natasha Morias, who was found dead at an address in Whetstone, Leicestershire, by police last Thursday night (June 22).
Officers had responded to calls for the concern of the woman’s welfare but she declared dead at the scene.
Now Leicestershire Police says Grant, who lives in Holbrooks, Coventry, has been arrested and charged with murder.
“Natasha was loved by all her family and she will be greatly missed by us all,” ‘the woman’s relatives said in a statement earlier this week.
“Her life was cut short and that will forever leave a hole in our hearts.
“We hold onto and will always treasure the beautiful memories we share and all the love she gave to all those around her.
“Rest in perfect peace, you beautiful soul. We love you so much.”
A series of arrests have been made in connection with the murder inquiry, including Mr Grant.
Four others have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Two men, aged 22 and 53, as well as a 19-year-old woman, have been released under investigation pending further investigation. A 35-year-old woman who was arrested on Saturday remains in custody.
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
Anyone with information should call them on 101.
