Inspectors commended the museum, stating, “Melton Carnegie Museum is a prime example of what can be achieved when a museum service is rightly seen as a vital public service, and is supported, valued, and invested in by its local authority.”

They also highlighted the “fascinating exhibitions, diverse range of events, excellent online presence, and effective use of social media,” concluding that the museum is a “charming civic institution” that reflects the dedication of its staff and volunteers. It is truly an asset to the local community.

Councillor Christine Radford, cabinet member for adults and communities, remarked: “This is an incredible achievement for Melton Carnegie Museum. To be recognised by Visit England as an exemplary museum is a fantastic honor and a testament to the hard work of our staff and volunteers.

“The dedication behind the museum’s offerings often goes unnoticed, and this accolade is a well-deserved recognition of the collective efforts involved.

“With an exciting program of events and engaging exhibitions, the museum has so much to offer. If you haven’t visited yet, be sure to check out what’s coming up and plan your next visit!”
