A Leicester care home manager has been given a national award for her devotion to caring for individuals with Dementia.
Juliet McNeilly, Care Home Manager at Devonshire Court, Leicester, was named Dementia Carer of the Year at the National Great British Care Award Finals, in Birmingham, where she got the chance to meet celebrity Rylan Clark.
The awards ceremony, celebrated last Friday (March 22), paid tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work in the care sector. All finalists at the event went through after winning in their respective categories in the regional finals.
Juliet McNeilly, Home Manager at Devonshire Court, said: “I’m thrilled to receive the Dementia Carer award on behalf of my whole team. I feel privileged to come to work each day to support our residents to live well, fulfil their dreams and make new memories, and work alongside passionate, kind and caring team members.
“The care sector is constantly evolving and we strive not just to meet our residents’ needs, but to exceed their expectations by enriching their lives through various activities and events. This could be an activity in our Kindness Suite, more access to safe outdoor spaces to enjoy nature, or feel-good dance sessions to help people have fun and keep moving,” she added.
The judges said: “Nothing surpasses Juliet’s commitment to ensuring every resident experiences their best day, every day. With profound empathy, she immerses herself in their dementia journey, offering unwavering support to guide them to safety. We need to bottle Juliet’s secret sauce and share it across the sector!”
