Leicester’s King Richard III Visitor Centre will host a special event next month, to mark the opening of the new ‘The Lost King’ film starring Sally Hawkins and Steve Coogan.
‘The Lost King: In Conversation’ event with Philippa Langley and the producer of the film, Dan Winch will take place at 11am on Sunday, October 2.
At the event, Philippa and Dan will be talking about their experiences of the making of The Lost King film, due to open in cinemas nationwide from October 7, and how it got underway. There will also be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions afterwards.
The Lost King tells the life-affirming story of a woman who refused to be ignored and who took on the country’s most eminent historians, forcing them to think again about one of the most controversial kings in England’s history. This led to the discovery of the remains of King Richard III beneath a car park in Leicester in 2012, having been lost for over 500 years.
Philippa Langley led the Search for Richard Project that ultimately led to the discovery of the mortal remains of King Richard III. She is President of the Scottish branch of the Richard III Society and the co-author of ‘The Lost King, the Search for Richard III’, the book that inspired the film.
Dan began his career as an assistant director in television drama and film. His producing credits include the final series of Chris Chibnall’s acclaimed ‘Broadchurch’, Russell T Davies’ award winning ‘A Very English Scandal’, and James Graham’s acclaimed television adaptation of his stage play ‘Quiz’. The Lost King is Dan’s third collaboration with director Stephen Frears, which he produced together with Steve Coogan and Christine Langan.
