A £1 flutter has transformed into a £17,011 windfall for Rothley shop assistant Mason Phillips, who struck lucky during a night out at Grosvenor Casino Leicester.
Phillips was enjoying a Friday evening with friends when he placed a side-bet on Ace King Suited, one of the casino’s most popular Blackjack additions. The young local found himself on the brink of a major payout after landing an Ace-King of Spades, with the dealer showing the King of Clubs. Only the Ace of Clubs stood between him and the jackpot — and moments later, it appeared.
The casino floor erupted.
“The mood was already high, but when I saw the Ace of Clubs, I jumped out of my seat and knocked the chair over,” Phillips recalled. “Everyone at the table was cheering and hugging me. On the way to the casino, I told my mate we were going to hit Ace-King suited tonight — and it actually happened. It was unreal!”
Phillips plans to use his winnings to support his family with upgrades to their home and to treat himself to some designer fashion.
