Taste the World in Leicester: New Restaurant Guide Showcases Over 100 Independent Eateries

From sizzling dosas to indulgent mac ’n’ cheese, Leicester foodies have a new reason to eat out this autumn.

A brand-new Taste the Place booklet is showcasing more than 100 of the city centre’s independent restaurants – just in time for Leicester’s Restaurant Week (20 October–2 November).

The free guide offers a vibrant and diverse menu of global cuisines right in the heart of the city, helping diners navigate everything from Korean barbecue and Greek souvlaki to vegan delights and British classics. Each listing is mapped out with a handy colour-coded city guide to make choosing – and finding – your next meal easier than ever.

“Leicester is a truly cosmopolitan city, and that means it is the ideal place to find a dining experience that will suit you, whatever your tastes,” said City Centre Director Sarah Harrison.

“Our long history as a welcoming destination has translated into a wealth of really friendly, authentic independent restaurants where you can be sure of some excellent food,” she added. “This Taste the Place guide is an ideal way to find your new favourite restaurant, whether you’re looking for a taste of home or something new.”

With Restaurant Week underway, many venues featured in the guide are offering exclusive deals and discounts – giving diners even more incentive to explore the culinary scene.

Alongside the main guide, there’s also a companion Taste the Place: Cafés booklet, which celebrates the city’s wealth of independent cafés and coffee bars.

Both booklets are available at the Visit Leicester Information Centre inside the King Richard III Visitor Centre (4A St Martins, Leicester, LE1 5DB), as well as at local hotels, theatres, bus stations, universities, and colleges. They’re also free to download from the Visit Leicester website.
