Team members at a Quorn care home took to the skies and raised thousands for Dementia UK and Admiral Nurses in Leicestershire.
Seven team members at Care UK’s Lonsdale Mews, on Farley Way, jumped out of a plane at 14,000ft to raise £6,110 for Dementia UK – a cause close to the team’s hearts. Care UK learned about the skydive and brought the total donation to £7,110.

Presenting the donation to Stuart Kennedy, Admiral Nurse for Charnwood, and Gwyn Jones, Chair for Leicestershire Dementia UK Fundraising Group, was the brave team who took to the sky, including Alette Crossan, Kerry Jurkowski, Lucy Glover, Magda Ligocka, Maryanne Wilson, Jess Gillespie and Jenny Cartwright.
Jenny, Customer Relations Manager at Lonsdale Mews, said: “We are all thrilled to have pushed ourselves out of our comfort zones and taken to the skies to complete a skydive – all while raising over £7,000 for a charity close to our hearts. The work that Dementia UK and the Admiral Nurses do and the countless individuals they support is vital, and I hope this donation helps them to continue providing critical aid across the country.”
Lucy Dalgress-Ferron, Regional Fundraiser for Northeast, East Midlands & East Anglia at Dementia UK, said: “We are so grateful to the Skydiving team at Lonsdale Mews for supporting Dementia UK with this skydive and through all of their other fundraising.

“One in three people born in the UK this year will develop dementia in their lifetime. It can be exhausting and overwhelming, not only for the person with dementia, but also for the people caring for them, and their wider family and friends.
“Thanks to the hard work of our amazing fundraisers, more families than ever will be able to access the life-changing support offered by our Admiral Nurses.”
Toby Sturgess, Home Manager at Lonsdale Mews, said: “I am immensely proud of the whole team at Lonsdale Mews for their dedication to raising money to help others in need – it means a lot to be able to work with a team who go above and beyond to make a difference.
“If their fundraising isn’t proof enough, the team are a delight to work with and are always going above and beyond for residents and their families. Congratulations everyone for raising such impressive funds for Dementia UK – a huge well done!”
