Young musicians from across the East Midlands are being invited to take part in the East Midlands Music Festival to be held next month in Loughborough.
The festival, organised by the Loughborough School’s Foundation’s Music School, is open to instrumentalists and singers of all abilities and is not limited to pupils from the Foundation’s schools. Organisers say it is intended to provide performing experience in a supportive setting for children and young people from across the region.

Competitions will take place across brass, piano, percussion, strings, singing and woodwind. Classes are divided by age group, with categories for Year 6 and under, Year 7 to 10, and Year 11 to 13.
All entrants will receive individual feedback from adjudicators, and prizes will be awarded in each category. The festival has previously attracted young musicians at a wide range of stages in their musical development.
Nicky Bouckley, Director of Music at Loughborough Schools Foundation, said the event was designed to be inclusive.
She said: “It’s aimed at young musicians of all ages and abilities, whether they’re at an early stage or have been playing for a number of years.”
Entries for the competition, which takes place on February 7 and 8, close at 4pm on Friday 16 January, and must be submitted online via lsf.org/east-midlands-music-festival. Further information is available from the Foundation’s music office at music.office@lsf.org.
