England Curry Capital, in collaboration with the Pukaar Group, today proudly announced the inaugural National Thali Week, set for 6 to 12 January 2025. This vibrant celebration honours the diverse flavors of South Asian cuisine through the traditional Thali, fostering community and unity nationwide.
National Thali Week will spotlight the Thali, an iconic Indian meal featuring a variety of dishes on one plate, showcasing a harmonious mix of flavours, textures, and aromas.
“We are thrilled to introduce National Thali Week, a unique opportunity to celebrate the vast culinary diversity within South Asian cuisine,” said Romail Gulzar, founder of England Curry Capital and Pukaar Group. “The thali is more than a meal; it is a shared experience that brings people together.”
Participating restaurants and eateries across England will offer specially curated Thalis, highlighting unique flavours and local ingredients from various Indian regions.
Gabby Miller from Cool As Leicester, the event’s digital media partner, added, “With Leicester now officially England’s Curry Capital, it’s fantastic to further celebrate the rich South Asian cuisine in the city with the launch of National Thali Week. We have some incredible Thalis on offer in Leicester, both meat and vegetarian, including lunchtime specials and larger evening sharing plates. Celebrate them all this January.”
Throughout the week, diners will embark on an unparalleled culinary journey, savouring everything from the spicy curries of the south to the robust gravies of the north. National Thali Week promises to be a delightful exploration of regional specialties and culinary traditions, bringing people together to enjoy the rich tapestry of South Asian flavors.
