The family of a motorcyclist tragically killed in a collision on the A606 at Langham has paid tribute to a “special dad and grandad.”
Brian Rudkin, known as Bryn, was riding a Piaggio PX motorcycle when it collided with a black Nissan Terrano on the morning of Sunday, March 2. The 57-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman in her 50s, who was riding as his pillion passenger, was taken to the hospital but was later discharged.

In a statement, Bryn’s wife shared their heartbreak, saying: “As a family, we are devastated. We had been together for 40 years and married for nearly 37. We met through our shared love of scooters. Bryn was a beloved husband, father to two boys, and grandad to five. He adored his children and grandchildren, and they have been robbed of the special times they should have had together in the future.
“Bryn was not just my husband, he was my best friend. Over the past year, we had been making plans to fulfill some dreams, and we were excited to do that together. The support we’ve received from our family and the local and scootering communities has been overwhelming, and it’s a comfort to know that everyone else recognized Bryn for the kind, compassionate, and caring man he was. He would drop everything to help anyone in need.
“We are still in shock from losing him so suddenly. We feel as though our future together has been taken from us, and our lives will never be the same. We have lost an incredibly special man.”
An investigation into the incident is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to visit Leicestershire Police’s road traffic incident report page and quote incident 208 of 2 March or call 101.
