Third Arrest Made in Relation to Leicester Shooting

A third arrest has been made in connection to a shooting in Evington Road, Leicester last month.

A 27-year-old man from Leicester has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police were called to the area at 11.20pm on Wednesday 22 November following a report that two men had been shot as they walked along Evington Road close to the junction with Chepstow Road, Leicester.

Extensive enquiries are continuing into the incident which include analysing CCTV, forensics work, house-to-house and a number of public appeals.
Two men, aged 24 and 29, both of Leicester, previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder remain on police bail.

Detective Inspector Hazel Sandall, from the force’s Complex Investigation Unit, said: “Our investigation into this incident is still very much ongoing and a number of enquiries are still being actively progressed.

“Thank you to everyone who has spoken to us and assisted the investigation so far. It is not too late for anyone who may have information and hasn’t passed this information on to get in touch. If you have any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please let us know.”

Recent appeals issued by Leicestershire Police, include appealing for information from anyone who saw a red MG SUV-type vehicle which is being linked to the incident.

They are also continuing to appeal for contact from three people who were standing on the corner of Evington Road and Chepstow Road at the time the shots were fired as well as from the driver of a passing white saloon car.
