Leicester Clinic Creates Local Jobs and Transforms Lives Through Aesthetic Medicine

A Leicester doctor is being praised for her contribution to both healthcare and the local economy after creating 10 jobs and transforming lives through her rapidly growing aesthetic clinic.

Dr Ameera Laher, founder of Amedics Clinic on Elmfield Avenue, has built a thriving medical-led business that not only enhances appearances but significantly improves the mental wellbeing of her patients. Since opening the clinic in 2019, Dr Laher has grown her team to include four doctors, a therapist, and several front-of-house staff – all working together to offer what she describes as a “premium, luxury service” in a safe, professional setting.

“I might be a small business, but employing 10 people locally is something I’m incredibly proud of,” said Dr Laher. “It’s been amazing to provide opportunities not just for medical professionals, but for support staff who are integral to the patient experience.”

The clinic specialises in aesthetic medicine, anti-aging treatments, dermatology, and wellness. Services range from injectables like Botox and dermal fillers to skin treatments, IV therapy, and hormone testing. But for Dr Laher, the benefits are far deeper than surface-level results.

“One of my patients told me she hadn’t left her bed for a month because of her skin. After coming to us, she gained the confidence to go back to work, socialise again, and reconnect with her life,” she shared. “Helping people mentally and emotionally is just as important as treating their skin.”

Dr Laher emphasises the psychological impact of aesthetic care. “If someone’s appearance is affecting their confidence, their mental health can suffer. Our treatments help people feel like themselves again—and that can lead to wider positive changes in their lives, like returning to work or re-engaging socially.”

The Amedics journey began with Dr Laher renting a single room in Oadby and treating patients part-time. In 2022, she invested £1 million into purchasing and renovating a permanent clinic building—completing an extension and full refit while pregnant with her son.

“It was a huge investment, especially in today’s climate, but it was also a risk I believed in. I knew that if we could provide a safe, ethical, medically-led service, people would trust us—and they have,” she said.

Today, Amedics Clinic attracts clients from across the UK. The business’s success has allowed Dr Laher to not only employ local talent but also invest in cutting-edge technology, including micro-liposuction and advanced laser devices.

A trained medical doctor with years of NHS and surgical experience, Dr Laher says the biggest challenge hasn’t been the treatments, but learning to manage a growing team.

“I’ve always had the drive to push myself—whether that’s in medicine, business, or helping people. Managing a team was new to me, but I’ve learned so much, and I’m lucky to have a dedicated, passionate group of people working alongside me.”

As a mother, wife, and business owner, she acknowledges the pressures but credits her strong support system and team for making it possible.

Looking ahead, Dr Laher plans to continue expanding the clinic’s offerings while staying rooted in her original mission: combining clinical excellence with compassionate, transformative care.

“People want more than a quick fix. They want care, follow-up, trust, and real results. That’s what we give them—and it’s what’s helped us grow,” she says.

With job creation, patient care, and community impact at its heart, Amedics Clinic stands as a shining example of how healthcare entrepreneurship can serve both individuals and the wider community.
