Appeal for Footage After Teenager Stabbed in Leicester City Centre

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and anyone with video footage to come forward after a 17-year-old was stabbed in Leicester City Centre.

At around 4:20pm on Friday, 23 May, police were alerted after the teenager arrived at Leicester Royal Infirmary with a stab wound. The injury was assessed as neither life-threatening nor life-changing.

Following initial enquiries, the victim told officers he had been with a friend in Belgrave Gate at around 3pm when they got into an argument with another male. During the confrontation, the suspect—who was not known to the victim—stabbed him.

The teenager has since been discharged from hospital. No arrests have been made at this time.

Detective Constable Marie Applewhite, from the Complex Investigation Team (CIT), said:
“Our enquiries indicate that there were several people in Belgrave Gate who witnessed the incident. We also believe at least one person may have filmed what happened on a mobile phone.

“We’re particularly interested in speaking with anyone who has footage—whether from mobile phones, CCTV, or dashcams—as it could provide crucial insight into the circumstances of the incident.

“Any information, no matter how small, could help our ongoing investigation.”
