National Space Centre’s Galactic Gathering Event to Return

The National Space Centre is preparing for liftoff into a galaxy not so far, far away as it announces the return of its much-loved Galactic Gathering event later this month.

Fans of all ages are invited to don their Jedi robes or Sith cloaks for a weekend packed with intergalactic family fun inspired by the Star Wars universe. The award-winning space science venue will transform into a haven for Star Wars enthusiasts on June 28 and 29, with costumed characters, themed activities, and immersive experiences.

Attendees can look forward to lightsaber training, droid-driving experiences, and photo opportunities with iconic characters from the dark and light sides of the Force. The event also features interactive board gaming hosted by Asmodee, and STEAM-based droid-building workshops led by the Droidbuilders Academy.

Younger visitors and families can get creative with craft sessions run by the National Space Centre’s Discovery Team, making space-themed souvenirs to take home.

A highlight of the weekend includes screenings inside the UK’s largest planetarium, featuring the acclaimed in-house production, The Great Solar System Adventure by NSC Creative.

In addition to activities, guests can browse a marketplace of local traders and creatives, offering everything from fan art to collectibles.

“We’re thrilled to bring Galactic Gathering back this summer,” said a spokesperson for the National Space Centre. “Whether you’re a lifelong Star Wars fan or just discovering the galaxy for the first time, there’s something for everyone—fun, education, and a lot of imagination.”

Cosplay is encouraged, but visitors are reminded that costumes should not be oversized or obstructive.
