Mental Health and Wellbeing Sessions in Thurmaston Continue with Community Grant Support

Thanks to a £3,000 grant from Charnwood Borough Council, mental health and wellbeing sessions in Thurmaston are continuing to support local residents.

Organised by Mind Aid UK, the sessions take place every Thursday from 11am to 2pm at Thurmaston Community Centre. They offer a safe, welcoming space for residents and visitors to discuss mental health concerns, participate in activities, and connect with others.

The funding was awarded as part of the latest round of Charnwood Community Grants, which distributed over £70,000 to support 16 local projects.

Cllr Liz Blackshaw, the Council’s lead member for communities and neighbourhoods, praised the initiative:

“The work that Mind Aid UK does in Charnwood is invaluable, and many residents rely on them for support. I’m pleased we could support these sessions through our community grants scheme. I’d encourage other community groups to explore the funding opportunities available.”

Rana Rajput, manager at Mind Aid UK, highlighted the positive impact of the sessions: “Our Thursday drop-ins in Thurmaston have been really well attended and are making a real difference to people in the area. Grants like this are vital in helping us continue to support a wide range of individuals in the community.”

Running since May 2024, the sessions attract around 20 visitors each week, offering ongoing support for those facing mental health challenges.
