Loughborough Strikes Gold Once Again at East Midlands in Bloom Awards 2025

Loughborough’s open spaces have once again earned top honours, securing a gold award at the 2025 East Midlands in Bloom competition.

This marks the town’s 14th gold win since 2011—the highest accolade available and a testament to the consistent quality of its green spaces.

With an impressive score of 95 out of 100, Loughborough was also named winner in the Small City category. Additionally, Queen’s Park received the Horticultural Excellence in Parks Award for its exceptional maintenance and presentation.

Pat Cook, chair of Loughborough in Bloom, said: “We are delighted to have won gold once again at the East Midlands in Bloom awards.
This is testament to all the hard work that volunteers and partners put in across the year to make sure Loughborough looks its absolute best.
A huge thank you to everyone on the Loughborough in Bloom board and all those involved in gaining this award.”

Cllr Anne Gray, Charnwood Borough Council’s lead member for open spaces, added: “I am so pleased that we have been recognised once again for our open spaces in Loughborough.
We are incredibly proud of our parks and green spaces across Loughborough and the whole borough. With the help of partners, volunteers and community groups, we make sure that they are maintained to the highest standards.”

The awards ceremony was held in Grimsby on Wednesday, 24 September 2025.

During the summer judging visit, judges learned about the many community-led projects that contribute to Loughborough in Bloom. The full 2025 portfolio is available online.

A special Judges’ Award was also presented to the volunteers at Rectory Wildlife Garden in Loughborough. They were recognised for transforming an overgrown area into a peaceful haven filled with wildlife and artistic sculptures.
