A 19-year-old man who carried out a series of burglaries and vehicle thefts across the region has been jailed for six years.
Theo Ramsey, formerly of New Fields Avenue, Leicester, committed multiple offences between January and March last year, stealing nine cars after taking keys from inside victims’ homes. The burglaries occurred in Fleckney, Broughton Astley, Countesthorpe, Narborough, Leicester, Coalville, Syston, Belton, Market Harborough, Kirby Muxloe, and Oakham.

After an extensive investigation, police linked Ramsey to the crimes through CCTV footage and mobile phone analysis, which placed him at the scenes.
In a December hearing, Ramsey pleaded guilty to twelve counts of burglary, nine counts of motor vehicle theft, two counts of attempted burglary, possession of nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation, attempted motor vehicle theft, and theft from a motor vehicle.
On Friday (30 January), he was sentenced to six years in a Young Offender Institution (YOI).
Detective Constable Billie-Jo Kent, who led the investigation, said: “Most of the offences were committed overnight while victims were asleep. These incidents were extremely distressing, and many of the stolen cars were high-value, prestigious vehicles. The evidence against Ramsey was overwhelming, leaving him no choice but to plead guilty. We hope this outcome reassures the victims and the wider public that we take these offences seriously and will bring offenders to justice.”
