The Football Safety App has been awarded the Excellence in Innovation gong at the prestigious Signature Awards in Birmingham, recognising its pioneering approach to confronting abuse in football at all levels.
Backed by former Leicester/England striker Emile Heskey and developed by a dedicated team of technology and safeguarding experts, The Football Safety App provides players, fans, officials and families with a fast, anonymous way to report incidents of abuse.

The app creates a platform for the real time reporting of abuse online, in stadiums, and across public spaces. The platform tackles all forms of abuse, including racism, sexism, homophobia, online harassment and other discriminatory behaviour, creating a centralised system for reporting across the football community.
Emile said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won this award. It is a huge recognition of the hard work, dedication and innovation that has gone into creating a tool that can genuinely make a difference.
“Abuse has no place in football, and this app gives people the power to see it, report it and end it. This is just the beginning, and we hope it inspires others across the game to act decisively.”
The Football Safety App is designed for practical, real?time use. Fans and participants can log incidents instantly from stadiums, concourses, fan zones, public transport, academies, pubs, and online platforms or social media.
All reports are sent to a 24?hour control room, where trained analysts filter out misuse and escalate verified cases to clubs, safeguarding officers, online platforms, and law enforcement as appropriate.
By centralising reporting, the app gives clubs and organisations anonymised data and insight, helping to identify trends, repeat issues, and abuse hotspots. It also makes reporting simple and accessible for users, encouraging engagement while maintaining privacy and safety.
Since its launch, the platform has been widely welcomed for its practical, data?driven approach to safeguarding and its ambition to create a football environment where everyone can participate safely, free from abuse.
The Football Safety App clearly identified a problem, brought a solution to the market that was accepted, and is now the foundation for a rapid scale up.
The app is free to download and use, and the team behind it is continuing to work with clubs, leagues and supporter groups to expand its adoption across the sport.
See it. Report it. End it.
