Leicestershire residents are being invited to make a difference this March by ‘Going Yellow’ in support of Marie Curie, the UK’s leading end-of-life charity.
The appeal, now in its 40th year, aims to raise vital funds for the charity’s Great Daffodil Appeal, which supports Marie Curie Nurses and healthcare professionals caring for people in their own homes and at hospices.

Fundraisers are being encouraged to get creative with yellow-themed activities, from bake sales and quiz nights to crafting and selling daffodil-inspired items. Other ideas include hosting a sip-and-paint daffodil class, wearing yellow with friends and family, or even turning a hobby, social, or sporting activity into a yellow fundraiser.
Marie Curie provides supporters with all the tools they need to make fundraising simple and fun, including step-by-step guides, cake flags and recipes, yellow-themed selfie props, invitations, and fundraising in-memory cards.
Abby Lockett, Marie Curie Community Fundraiser for Leicestershire, said: “This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Great Daffodil Appeal, and we’re hoping to turn the whole of the UK yellow to celebrate. We want the people of Leicestershire to help us raise more money than ever to support our vital hospice and end-of-life care services.”
Last year, Marie Curie supporters helped the charity provide direct care to over 42,000 people across the UK, both in hospices and through overnight nursing care in people’s own homes. Funds also support the charity’s free support line and webchat, which offered practical advice or a listening ear over 21,000 times.
As the official charity partner of Morrisons, Marie Curie is also encouraging people to get involved by collecting at local stores or participating in in-store fundraising activities between 23rd February and 8th March.
Lockett added: “The Great Daffodil Appeal only comes around once a year, so this is a real chance for Leicestershire locals to make an incredible difference for people with terminal illnesses and their loved ones.”
