The body of a woman found in the River Soar near has been identified as Marie Wan – a Loughborough woman who had been missing since March.
Mrs Wan, 51, had been reported missing after last being seen in the Loughborough area on Wednesday, March 13. A missing person investigation was launched and a number of public appeals were made to help find her.
Following a call received shortly before 1pm on Sunday 28 April, police attended to the river where Mrs Wan’s body was sadly later recovered from the water. Formal identification has now taken place.
The cause of Mrs Wan’s death is not being treated as suspicious and full support is being provided to Mrs Wan’s family.

It thanked everyone who helped with its appeals to find Mrs Wan and who provided the force information. It also said the family and friends of Mrs Wan have extended their thanks to officers involved in the investigation as well as to members of the public who helped in the search.
