Countdown to Leicester’s Biggest Food Festival!

The countdown is on for Leicester’s tastetacular Food Festival, which takes place this weekend promising plenty of fun and culinary delights from across the world.

The festival is set to take place at the city’s Abbey Park on August 10 and 11, with a smorgasbord of food and entertainment on offer, including a donut eating competition and live lip-sync battle!

Culinary highlights include the award winning Colombo Street Sri Lankan Street Food, Smashing Plates authentic Greek food, Fat Hippo, Chicken George Jnr, Little Somboon Box, Chocoberry, craft ale tasting workshops from local Micro Brewery Mill Hill and Tynt Meadow who are the only Trappist Brewery in the UK.

There will also be Cocktails, a Gin and Aperol Spritz Bar, Homemade Ice Cream from Ferneleys, Chimney cakes which are a traditional Hungarian sweet street food, Wine Tasting wokshops with local enthusiast, @the.winefan, gin masterclasses luxury milkshakes made with local milk from Leedham Farm Dairy, and so much more to tempt you.

The festival have also announced that local World Champion Sculpture and CBBC Art presenter, Nicola Wood will be mesmerising festival goers by transforming 10 tonnes of sand into a surprise sculpture. You will be able to watch as it emerges and even try your hand at making your own masterpiece under the guidance of the workshop leaders. Here you’ll be able to learn the tricks of the trade and tune in to your creative side. Children and adults alike can participate and all tools, inspiration and guidance is provided.

Families can have fun at the balloon discos being held in the Big Top throughout the weekend, take part in arts & crafts, enjoy the Circus Shows, take part in circus skills, watch the magical bubble fairy, explore the funfair,  try their skills at ‘Foot Golf’ which is being organised by Leicester City in the Community, and shoot some hoops with Leicester Riders.

If you missed Coldplay at this year Glastonbury festival, fear not as there’s a full line up of music on the main stage including Ultimate Coldplay who are known worldwide as the best Coldplay tribute.

Hosted by local TV Chef Kwoklyn Wan and sponsored by Project D, you’ll be able to take part in a donut eating competition, and also go head to head in the on stage Lip Sync Battle.
