Crimestoppers Launches Anonymous Crime Reporting Campaign in Saffron Lane

Crimestoppers has launched a new digital campaign in Leicester’s Saffron Lane area to empower residents to report crime 100% anonymously.

The campaign is part of the local Safer Saffron initiative, which supports the national Clear, Hold, Build strategy aimed at building safer, stronger communities. It encourages residents to speak up about crime, anti-social behaviour, and drug activity—without fear.

Starting Monday (April 14), a police-supported digital AdVan will tour the area promoting Crimestoppers’ anonymous reporting service and youth-focused Fearless.org. Leaflets will also be distributed, urging locals to report information about drug dealing, stolen goods, gang activity, and planned crimes.

Crimestoppers, an independent charity, is working with Leicestershire Police to raise awareness of exploitation and organised crime. Gangs often target vulnerable individuals—especially young people—using gifts and false promises to lure them into running drugs through ‘County Lines’ operations. Victims may not realise they’re being exploited until it’s too late.

Warning signs include sudden lifestyle changes, expensive new items, multiple phones, or drug-related activity.

Anyone can report anonymously 24/7 in over 150 languages by calling 0800 555 111 or visiting Crimestoppers-uk.org. Young people can also use Fearless.org.

Lydia Patsalides, East Midlands Regional Manager at Crimestoppers, said: “We want the people of Saffron Lane to know they have a voice. You can speak up safely and anonymously. We don’t take your details—we just want the information.”

Inspector Paul Crewe, South Leicester Neighbourhood Policing, added: “We understand not everyone wants to come to the police. Crimestoppers is a safe alternative where you can report without fear.”
