DRIVER RACIALLY ABUSED AND SPAT AT IN LEICESTER

Witnesses are sought after a driver was racially abused and spat at in Leicester.

The incident is reported to have happened at around 3pm on Tuesday (21 June) on Lutterworth Road.

As the victim, who was travelling towards Leicester in a grey Toyota, pulled up near the junction with Marsden Lane, the driver of a black Seat, behind her got out and approached her vehicle.

He made a racist comment and spat at her through her open window before returning to his car.

The vehicle then overtook her and the front seat passenger also spat at her before leaving the scene.

The men are both described as black and of a slim build. The driver was wearing a black t-shirt while the passenger was wearing a high-viz jacket.

PC Liam Moore is investigating and asking for anyone who witnessed what happened to get in touch.

He said: “It is believed that there were a number of people at a nearby bus stop who may have been the incident or the events leading up to it,” he said.

“If there is anyone who may be witnessed something connected to this incident, please get in contact with us.”
