Hosted by Care Talk Magazine, the awards celebrate the best of the best across the social care sector in the East Midlands region. The Care Team accolade recognises a team that showcases outstanding support, leadership and an approach to care that has the people supported at heart.

Led by service manager, Gill Edwards, the team support individuals with complex support needs, including autism, learning disabilities and physical disabilities, to live independent and fulfilling lives in their communities.

Winning the award celebrates the strong community culture, team spirit and values at Gilmorton, and the team’s collectively outstanding approach to supporting people to lead incredible lives – from empowering people to embark on dream holidays to securing opportunities to volunteer at the local church and the food bank.

Gill Edwards, Service Leader at Gilmorton, said, “We were blown away when they announced that we had won the award – it was an amazing feeling of joy and accomplishment for us all. I know that my team are a talented and special group of people, so to see them recognised as best in the region meant the world.”

She continued, “At Gilmorton, we’re one big family – we treat each other and the people we support with respect, dignity and compassion. We also love to celebrate what makes each person different and we strive to ensure people live fun and fulfilling lives, that are unique to them. I think this award is a real testament to the work of the whole team in providing the very best care so that the people we support live amazing lives.”

Edd Terrey, Managing Director for Community Integrated Care, said, “The team at Gilmorton are exceptional. They’re full of creativity and show a real passion for supporting people to live the best lives possible. From hosting amazing community events that connect people with their neighbours and opportunities in their local area, to encouraging people to experience their dream holidays, the team have such an impact and we’re so proud to see them win this award.”
